Newly renovated cathedral on display at Greek Fest

For the last 18 months, the cathedral has been expanded from a 400 capacity church to fit 850 people.

Every year, thousands of people flock to the festival on Yoakum Blvd for a taste of Greek culture.

There’s music, dancing, and plenty of food to go around.

This year, at the 52nd annual Greek Festival in Montrose, visitors were some of the first to see the newly renovated Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral.

“Our faith is so intertwined with our ethnic background, but now we’ve grown so much. People think we’re just Greek, but no, we welcome people and have come to love orthodoxy. Many have converted,” said Father Demetri Tagaropulos.

For the last 18 months, it has been expanded from a 400 capacity church to fit 850 people.

The $13 million renovation also included building a beautiful dome and decorating the interior of the church with Christian art.
