HOUSTON — A jewel in Houston’ s art and culture scene is celebrating another milestone in its recovery from the devastating damage caused by Harvey.

Fish Plaza, located at the entrance of the Wortham Center, will soon open again. The plaza, named after Houston philanthropist Ray C. Fish, has hosted everything from Houston Grand Opera’s live outdoor performances to tented social galas.

The Wortham Center, home to the opera and Houston Ballet, reopened last September, more than a year after Harvey caused $100 million in damage.

The Wortham’s basement took on 12 feet of floodwaters, destroying costumes, props and rehearsal spaces. Three feet of floodwaters damaged the lobby and the Brown and Cullen theaters.
