We found a $2 fix for clogged drains

The Vastar Drain Snake is a long orange piece of plastic with sharp teeth and a handle.

Unclogging a drain usually includes chemicals or a call to a plumber! We found a $2 fix on Amazon and decided to give it a try.

The Vastar Drain Snake is a long orange piece of plastic with sharp teeth and a handle. You slide the snake down the drain until you reach the clog and then twist and pull it out.

We recruited help from Elizabeth Baker. She was a little embarrassed about what we were about the witness.

“I have a lot of hair and a lot of it comes out in the shower,” she said. “Prepare yourself. This is going to be nasty.”

Elizabeth pulled off the drain lid in her shower and lowered the snake. It’s nearly 20 inches long. Within seconds, she could feel a clog. She pulled up and a wad of hair and debris came out.

Elizabeth also tried the sink where she does her hair every day! This time, she worked around the drain stopper and managed to slowly pull up hair.

The whole process was easy until reporter Tiffany Craig tried it in the bathtub. When she attempted to pull it back up around the drain stopper, the snake broke and most of was stuck in the pipe.

Even with the visit from a plumber, Elizabeth believes the Vastar Drain Snake is worth keeping around the house!

It’s sold in multiples on Amazon. We found a 3-pack for $6.
