PORTLAND, Oregon — The instructions for the event were simple: Bring a paddle board, harness, flotation device and non-invasive species permit. And a witch costume.
The second annual SUP Stand Up Paddleboard Witch Paddle, a stroke of Portland genius, went off without a hitch Saturday at Willamette Park.
Hundreds of people dressed in witch costumes were seen paddling down the river Saturday morning.
This is the second year the event has taken place. Organizers also held a coat drive for those in need of winter coats.
The Portland Fire & Rescue Bureau were involved as well and sent a boat out to send up huge water jets on the river.
KGW's Cassidy Quinn took a practice run before the event with organizer Ginny Kauffman.
