SPRING, Texas — A 13-year-old from Spring told her family and friends to skip the gifts at her birthday party, instead directing them to a donations box for the Special Olympics. She raised $850.

On Tuesday, Isabel Garcia presented the money to the organization in a very special way. She met Special Olympics athlete Kevin Harrell, who brought along his medals and told Garcia how he won them.

“She is an amazing 13-year-old,” said Roger Browning with organization. “We’re very thankful for people like her."
