HOUSTON — For two decades, we’ve helped make Christmas brighter for tens of thousands of families in the Houston area. Last year alone, we helped 4,700 families and the need for holiday assistance is even greater this year. The Salvation Army has already received more than a thousand additional requests for holiday assistance over last year.
The Secret Santa Toy Drive benefits the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program, which provides Christmas assistance to disadvantaged children in our area. COVID-19 has created a bigger need, with 47% of Houston families still struggling to make ends meet. An alarming 1 out of 7 people living on the streets became homeless due to the pandemic.
With those staggering statistics in mind, your generosity will help rescue Christmas for our city’s most vulnerable. Our goal is to collect $100,000 in total donations to provide Christmas gifts for hundreds of children in our community.
How You Can Donate
Now through December 5th, you can be a Secret Santa to a child in need by donating new, unwrapped toys at participating sponsor locations. A big thank you to our sponsors Reliant, Randalls, American Furniture Warehouse, and One Hour Air Conditioning and Heating for helping us spread holiday joy this season!
If you can’t make it to a drop-off location, toys and monetary donations can be made easily online.
On Thursday, December 2nd from noon to 7 p.m., we will host a virtual telethon to help us reach our donation goal of $100,000 for The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program! You can donate by calling 713-654-1111 only on the day of our telethon. On that day, our generous sponsors, American Furniture Warehouse will match viewer donations up to $5,000 from 4p to 5p; Reliant will match viewer donations up to $10,000 from 5p to 6p, and Randalls will provide a matching donation of up to $11,000 from 6p to 7p.
