HOUSTON — Great Day Houston put out the call for Houston's best sandwich, and you answered.  Hundreds of entries were submitted and the top three were chosen in the Mrs Baird's "Come and Get It" Sandwich Contest.

The contestants put their best sandwiches forward for the chance to win luxury suite tickets to see George Strait at Rodeo Houston.

Contestant number one, Shirley King, presented "Grant's Open-Faced Avocado Egg Sandwich", made with Mrs Baird's bread, avocado, fried egg, feta cheese, tomatoes, salt, pepper, and Tajin.

Contestant number two, Guadalupe Montoya, showed off her "Pica-dilly" sandwich, made with Mrs Baird's bread, peanut butter, pickles, cream cheese, and flaming hot Cheetos.

Contestant number three, Tom Cairns, made "The Troubadour" with Mrs Baird's Texas Toast, sliced beef tenderloin, fried onion strings and glazed with special sauce.

Judges for the competition included Dominic Palmieri, The Midway Gourmet; Joey Galluzzi, owner of Brooklyn Meatball Company; and Charlie Hewitt, a Houston SaberCat rugby player.

The judges sampled each sandwich to choose the winning entry, "The Troubadour", made by Tom Cairns.  He won luxury suite tickets to see George Strait at Rodeo Houston.
