Watch quality theatre in Houston free of charge at Miller Outdoor Theatre

Miller Outdoor Theatre is the only open-air theatre in the United States where every performance is free.

HOUSTON — Miller Outdoor Theatre is the only open-air theatre in the United States where every performance is free.

While the entertainment is sophisticated and top quality, Miller Outdoor Theatre encourages you to leave your neckties and high heels at home. Founded in 1923, the theatre was created to expose everyone to the beauty of the performing arts. Managing Director, Cissy Segall Davis, stopped by Great Day Houston to talk about the history of Miller Outdoor Theater, and what you can expect to see this season.

From daytime programs especially for young children to family-friendly evening performances of classical music, jazz, world music and dance, ballet, Shakespeare, musical theatre, popular concert artists, films and more, this is Houston's best entertainment value.

Tonight, you can see "Grand Tapestry", which marries hip-hop with centuries-old tradition of Hindustani classical music. Saturday, Poodle skirts and "greaser" comb-backs will be on display as the Houston Chamber Choir turns back the clock to the days of classic rock n' roll. Sunday, Mayor Sylvester Turner will host the inaugural Jazz on the Hill concert!
