Ann Marie Vancas has a condition called Synesthesia - a neurological condition in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway (e.g., hearing) leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway (e.g., vision).
She turned her diagnosis into an art, a hobby and now a career. Ann Marie always paints while listening to music which allows her to release her emotions while she paints. Her work is predominately displayed throughout Houston, and in the numerous art shows and exhibitions. Her artistic style is abstract and surrealism with a slight emphasis on fauvism. Her unique version is what she calls “Sensuism.”
