HOUSTON - One of Houston’s most iconic restaurants is moving to a temporary home in 2019, but customers won’t have to go far.

Starting Friday, Frenchy’s will move to 4646 Scott Street, blocks away from its original location at 3919 Scott next to Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church.

Construction is set to begin this year on Frenchy’s new home on the corner of Scott and Alabama streets.

Tuesday marks the last day customers can purchase food from the original Frenchy’s location, which has been a staple in Houston for 49 years.

Frenchy's sold its property to Wheeler in summer 2016. The teardown of the original Frenchy’s is set for Jan. 7.

Frenchy’s new, two-story flagship restaurant is expected to open on July 3 in celebration of its 50th anniversary.
