Lisa Hernandez is a morning news anchor at KHOU 11 News in Houston, Texas.
Lisa comes to Houston from KABC in Los Angeles, where she spent seven years as a reporter and weekend morning anchor.
Lisa began her television news career in 2002 as KESQ’s morning show producer in Palm Springs. From there she went on to report for News 14 Carolina in Charlotte, and a year after that accepted a reporter position at KABC. She was promoted to weekend morning anchor in 2006.
While in Los Angeles, Lisa covered a variety of stories including cartel violence at the border, disastrous wildfires and mudslides, and Michael Jackson’s memorial service that packed downtown LA. She also enjoyed reporting on the lighter side, including pre-show at the Academy Awards, three championship parades for the Lakers, and late nights/early mornings with the diehards camped out for Pasadena’s very own Rose Parade.
Now in Houston, Lisa’s up by 2am to anchor weekday mornings! When she’s not working, she loves spending time with her husband, Joel, and their 3-year old daughter. A huge animal lover, Lisa has a house full of rescue dogs! She hosts KHOU’s weekly pet adoption segment with the Houston SPCA and will shamelessly remind you to adopt/foster/spay/neuter.
Lisa enjoys running because it allows her to eat dessert. She’s run seven marathons, including 3 consecutive Boston Marathons.
Lisa grew up in Indio, California and is a proud graduate of UCLA. She earned her B.A. in Political Science in 2001.
