Lisa Carter is a senior digital content producer at KHOU 11 News in Houston, Texas, specializing in the areas of creating content on multiple platforms, managing the station’s social media accounts, writing, editing and photography.

Carter previously worked at ESPN’s headquarters in Bristol, Conn., as a production assistant where she produced content for Sports Center, Outside the Lines, Sport Science and other studio shows. She also worked as a reporter at the Las Vegas Review-Journal covering downtown Las Vegas and Paradise, Nev.

Carter earned her master’s degree in Interactive Publishing from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. She holds her bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication – Print Journalism from Texas State University. Carter was also a fellow with the Poynter Institute for Media Studies in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Carter is part of the KHOU.com team that has received several prestigious industry awards including the Regional and National Edward R. Murrow Award for Excellence in Social Media (2017) and Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Excellence in Social Media (2018).

Carter is a member of the Association of Women in Sports Media and the Society for Professional Journalists. She is a sports fanatic and native Houstonian. Carter also teaches group fitness classes for YMCA of Greater Houston and other gyms throughout the Houston area.
