Cory McCord is a Senior Digital Content Producer for KHOU and joined the station in Oct. 2019. His duties include creating and updating original content for all KHOU 11 digital, mobile and social media platforms.
Prior to KHOU, McCord worked for Graham Media Group's KPRC as a digital editor where he spent about four years and entrenched himself as an integral part of the newsroom.
He strives for accuracy in reporting and keeping up with the pulse of big-city news. His relentless work ethic coupled with a precise attention to detail led to in-depth reports on countless breaking news stories.
McCord graduated from the University of Houston's Jack J. Valenti School of Communication with a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Psychology. While attending college at UH, McCord got his start in journalism working at the Houston Chronicle in the sports department. He worked both in print and on the digital side of things.
McCord was born in the Houston area and has spent the majority of his life here. He was born in The Woodlands, where he stayed until he graduated from The Woodlands High School in 2004. After spending a few years working in the oilfield, he turned his attention back to school and graduated college.
In his off time, McCord enjoys live music, spending time with family, and watching and attending sporting events. There's really no sport he won't watch with full enthusiasm.
He and his wife, Jolene, live on the northwest side of town with their two dogs, Roper and Honey. They enjoy making their rounds to their favorite spots around the city as well as traveling around the world.
