Hurricane Alex Tornado Touchdown

Hurricane Alex now Tropical Storm Alex

Tropical storm Alex had lost most of its strength but would continue spreading scattered showers over the South on Friday.

The storm would persist on its westward track through northern Mexico, but maintain some energy as it pulled moisture in from the Gulf of Mexico. Moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms were expected over the Gulf states, with rainfall totals around an inch and up to two inches in areas of severe storm development. A frontal boundary hovering over the northern Gulf coast would allow the storms to persist eastward, stretching from Louisiana to Florida. Most of the southern U.S. was expected to remain in the 80s to near 90 Friday.
