At the Aveda Walk for Water in Houston on Sunday April 18th, 70 Aveda salon and spa professionals and children from the Houston area raised $7,000 to increase awareness and funding for the Gulf Restoration Network and Lower Mississippi Riverkeeper organizations.
The Aveda Walk for Water in Houston is one of a series of 100+ walks held in cities around the world to celebrate Earth Month and promote the 2010 Aveda Earth Month Campaign for clean water initiatives.
The distance of the Aveda Walk for Water in Houston was 6k (4 miles)- to represent the average distance that women in developing countries travel each day for access to clean water.
In 2009, the Aveda Earth Month Campaign raised over $3.1 million to support local and global action for clean water, and this year, the company hopes to increase that total to $3.5 million.
