To start off my mom Shelly would be very embarrassed if she knew that I am doing this, but I can not think of a more deserving person. There has not been a time in my life when my mom has not been helping or caring for someone in need. I remember Eloise who was a single mom of 4 boys and passed away two years ago. When Eloise first came into my mothers life 20 years ago with her rough edges and 4 rough and tumble boys my mother loved her and her family instantly as if they were her own family. She cried, laughed and prayed with Eloise over the years. When Eloise was dying of cancer my mother gave her foot massages, a shoulder to cry on and a quiet place to rest.
Over the last three years my mom has become a big part of a struggling family's life. This family of three; Sammy, Michelle and little Lela have experienced great sickness, loss of jobs and even having there home robbed. When they run out of food my mom brings them what she and my dad have in there pantry even when there funds are spars. My mom drives Sammy to work, Michelle to the store and Lela to school on a daily basis since this family does not have a car. When they are sick, afraid or confused my mom is one of the first people they call for guidance and prayer.
When my husband lost his job and I was put on bed rest due to a auto immune disorder and we lost our home in Oregon my Mom not only opened up her home to us but also helps care for me on a daily basis when I am too sick to do the every day things that most people take for granted. I think most mothers deserve credit for putting there life on hold to care for there children. But these stories are only a fraction of the ways my mother has put her life on hold to care for me and so many others. I know that my Mom does not do these things for credit or glory but I would love to see her be recognized for the wonderful servants heart that she has. My mom pours what little funds she has into people that need help ( me being one of them) and yet her and my dad have been in need of a new bed for years now. I know that this gift card to Star Furniture would not go to waste or be frivolously spent if she won it!
