STUDENTS BRING HOMECOMING TO SENIORS

Think of it as an intergenerational pep rally! Hundreds of excited high school students—many dressed in school colors—recently shared the joy and pomp of high school homecoming with dozens of pom-pom waving seniors at Parkway Place senior community in West Houston. The entire student body of Westside High School, led by the marching band, cheerleaders, football players and other student groups—in cars and on floats—charted their course into Parkway Place to the delight of equally spirited residents. The teens and seniors shared a common bond of school spirit amid smiles, laughter and heartfelt hugs—as part of an annual homecoming ritual.

“The residents loved it! They felt honored that the kids would take time out of their day to come by to say hello, shake hands, and give out a few hugs,” said Rhonda Duncan, Life Enrichment Coordinator for Parkway Place. “It also gave them a chance to get outside for some fresh air on a beautiful day. In fact, they were excited to tell me when I came in this morning that Westside won their homecoming game on Friday night.”
