AUTUMN LEAVES OF WEST HOUSTON

Company executives, financial partners, and the public joined together to mark a significant day in the history of a national leader in memory care—the groundbreaking of the 26,000-square-foot, $11.2 million Autumn Leaves of West Houston. The memory care community will use a family approach to serve residents living with Alzheimer’s, dementia and memory impairment. This is the 8th memory care community The LaSalle Group has brought to the Houston area in just over two years. Houston’s constantly diversifying economy, large population and geographic size are key factors contributing to the company’s growth in Houston.

“Our mission is to help families struggling with Alzheimer’s and dementia,” said Brenda Brantley, chief financial officer, The LaSalle Group. “We are excited about this new community. Our goal is to help people, and the more communities we open, the more families we can serve.”

The building will incorporate architectural and design features based on the most recent Alzheimer’s and dementia research. The community will serve nearly 50 residents in a home-like environment. The staff will undergo an extensive CARES and in-house training program especially designed for Alzheimer’s and dementia, and the residents will benefit from life enrichment programs, dietician and nutritionist staffed culinary programs, and personalized programs to engage them daily.

“We know there is a growing need for our expert memory care,” said Chad Anderson, president, Constant Care Family Management, the property management company for Autumn Leaves communities. “According to the Alzheimer’s Association, the number of people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in Texas is expected to increase to 470,000 by 2025. We want to provide a home for Texans living with Alzheimer’s or dementia, and a place where they can live with dignity, respect, and life enrichment.”

Autumn Leaves of West Houston will also offer free services to the public including seminars, educational programs, memory screening, support groups, and free care on Wednesdays to give caregivers and family members respite.

“We are really excited to expand in the Houston metro, and we look forward to providing expert care to our residents,” said Mitchell Warren, president, The LaSalle Group. “I want to thank the community and our partners for helping us bring our much needed services to West Houston.”

The project is the result of a partnership with The La Salle Group, Silverado Interests and Community Trust Bank. The community is expected to open in West Houston during the second quarter of 2013.
