The Buckingham senior living community geared up for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo with a series of western themed events. The festivities began with a chili cook-off competition, where residents voted for their favorite chili. Country western singer Chris Collins set the mood with performances of country classics. Residents and their guests later gathered dressed in their best western attire to enjoy line dancing instructions followed with a Texas-style barbeque dinner.
“The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is a very important and celebrated event. The whole city goes Texan and our residents and staff love to dress up and join in celebrating,” said The Buckingham lifestyles director Deborah Mahrt.
Since its beginning in 1932, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has committed more than $265 million to scholarships, research, endowments, calf scramble participants, junior show exhibitors, the Rodeo Institute for Teacher Excellence™, School Art participants, and other educational and youth programs.
