Dedicated to My Daughter, In Honor of my Mom
Mom had big hugs on days I’d lose
She beamed on days I’d win.
There never was a lonely time,
She was there through thick and thin.
Mother’s Day marks the day for moms
And sometimes marked mom’s birthday.
When I told her I too would have a girl,
She said, “So much to do and say!”
Who knew seventeen months later,
Mom would leave us for a better place.
But her dignity, gentle grace and love
Ever glow in my daughter’s face.
My mom and my daughter are so much alike
That even after ten long years
I feel Mom is with me everyday
When I share laughter, love and tears.
Through my daughter, I see mom’s legacy
Her spirit and generous heart
If I didn’t know any better,
I’d swear they were twins, just years apart.
So I am blessed to have had a mom
Who loved me more than I ever knew.
I feel it through the bond I have
With my own daughter – just us two.
