On Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Lt. Harry Zamora was inbound on the Gulfon Freeway near Telephone Road riding his motorcycle enroute to provide a funeral escort when he noticed traffic screeching to a halt. Apparently, motorists were trying to avoid striking a dog that had wandered onto the HOV lane. He activated his emergency equipment and proceeded to herd the dog toward the Lockwood exit. Traffic slowed down and drove past him and the dog as he escorted the dog off the freeway preventing his injury or certain death. Another typical day in the life of a Houston Police Officer.
