ELIGIBILITY: The Contest is open to legal residents of Houston, Texas who live within 60 miles of City Hall and who are eighteen (18) years or older at the time of entry. Void where prohibited by law. Winners of previous KHOU-TV contests or giveaways are not eligible to win another KHOU-TV contest or giveaway within a 90-day period.
Employees, temporary employees, independent contractors and interns of KHOU-TV, Belo Corp., their respective subsidiaries, parents, partners, other Contest sponsors, advertising and promotional agencies (hereinafter “Contest Providers”) and the immediate family members of, and any persons living with, any such employees are not eligible to enter or to win. The term “immediate family members” includes spouses, parents, grandparents, siblings, children, and grandchildren.
HOW TO ENTER: The contest link is found on the greatdayhouston.com home page. Next, click the Submit Now button. If you don't have a registered user account yet, click Sign Up! link to register. Sign up is free. Check your email for the confirmation email to activate your new account. Next, browse and attach your video or photo and write a short description (200 words or less in English) describing why your mother is a survivor. Select the "Legacy of Love: Mother’s Day” channel. Click Submit Story and you are now entered. EACH PHOTO MUST BE AN AUTHENTIC, ORIGINAL SUBMISSION TAKEN BY CONTESTANT OR THE CONTESTANT MUST OWN THE COPYRIGHT IN THE PHOTOGRAPH SUBMITTED. Entries that do not include the essay will be disqualified.

No responsibility is assumed by KHOU-TV, Belo Corp., their respective subsidiaries, parents, partners, or other Contest sponsors for lost, late, misdirected, or incomplete entries. All entries become the property of Contest Providers. Multiple entries by the same person will result in disqualification.

Approximate Retail Value (ARV) Of Prize - $500 item from IW Marks Jewelers.
Prizes are non-transferable and may not be redeemed for cash; substitutions may not be requested. By participating in the contest and accepting a prize, participants and winner will be deemed to agree to these Rules. Travel is not included unless specifically stated. Winner is responsible for all applicable federal, state, and local income and any other taxes, fees and surcharges. An IRS Form 1099 will be issued for all prizes with a retail value in excess of $600. Contest Providers reserve the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value.
WINNER SELECTION: Winner selection shall take place on or about Monday, April 25, 2011 at 1945 Allen Parkway, Houston, TX 77019.A panel of qualified judges selected by Contest Providers will judge all eligible entries based on the following: (1) quality of photo, (2) quality of essay and (3) pertinence of the essay to the topic. Each element will account for one-third of the total score. In the event of a tie, the tied entries will be rejudged based on the same criteria. Decision of the judges shall be final. The Winner will be notified by phone on or near date specified. If a winner is not reachable within two days, the entry with the next highest score will be declared the Winner. In order to be named a winner, potential winners may be required to execute and return an Affidavit of Eligibility/Prize Acceptance Form/Release of liability upon accepting a prize. Noncompliance will result in disqualification and an alternate winner will be selected.
USE OF CONTEST INFORMATION: Participants grant to Contest Providers, and Contest Providers reserve, the right to use any and all information related to the Contest, including information provided by Participants in connection with the Contest, for marketing purposes or any other purpose, unless prohibited by law. Participants may be required to sign a release, which grants to Contest Providers the right to use and publish their proper name and state of residence online or in any other media in connection with the Contest. By accepting a prize, winner(s) may be required to sign a release that grants permission to Contest Providers to use his or her name, photograph, likeness, voice, prize information and/or biographical information for publicity and promotional purposes without future compensation unless prohibited by law.
