Kathy Johanns has been appointed executive director of The Village at Gleannloch Farms.

Johanns Named Executive Director

Lutheran Social Services (LSS) has named Kathy Johanns executive director of The Village at Gleannloch Farms, the Lutheran-sponsored life care community for active adults, 62 and up. The announcement was made by John Berkely, Senior Vice President, Lutheran Social Services of the South.

“Kathy is an ideal choice for executive director of The Village at Gleannloch Farms just at the time we are expanding our services and marketing outreach to active adults in Spring and surrounding areas,” said Berkely. “She brings a youthful and dynamic approach to managing the community that is perfectly aligned with that new focus. And her career experience has equipped her to continue—and improve—the entire spectrum of social, lifestyle, and health services our residents have come to expect.”

Johanns has more than 14 years experience in senior services and health care management. She was previously Program Manager for Care-Connect Senior Services, a senior care management program affiliated with Lutheran Social Services. Prior to that position, she served as an interim manager of an LSS assisted living facility.

“I am thrilled to have an opportunity to serve as executive director of a community that offers active adults such a full range of social amenities and health services,” said Johanns. “My life’s passion is to provide an environment for residents that feels like home in every sense and offers the resources to remain active and enjoy every day to the fullest. Lutheran Social Services understands, shares, and supports that passion.”

Johanns earned her bachelor’s degree in social welfare at California State University. She also received long-term care administration certification from Austin Community College and assisted living management certification from Southwest Texas State University. In addition, Johanns is a Certified Senior Care Manager

Lutheran Social Services (LSS) is the social service arm of The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. LSS affiliated ministries serve more than 35,000 people in Texas and Louisiana regardless of religious beliefs, ethnicity, gender or age. Its ministries include adult day care, active adult health care and communities, children’s centers, therapeutic foster care, adoption, disaster response and emergency assistance.

LSS is a leader in redefining what residents in a 62+ community can expect. The latest trend in active adult housing is a community that offers a full continuum of care – an option that, until now, was non-existent in Houston.

Located at Champion Forest Drive and Northpointe Boulevard, The Village at Gleannloch Farms is situated on 25 acres and is designed to resemble the property’s original architecture. Architect of the project, three architecture of Dallas, incorporated native Gleannloch Farms stone and wood overhangs, balconies, trellises and fences to promote a “countryside residence” exterior. The community’s interior, designed by Faulkner Design Group of Dallas, features arts-and-crafts period influences using wood paneling, stained glass and wood-beamed ceilings.

The community adds to the already extensive variety of residential housing options available in Gleannloch Farms. Other Gleannloch Farms amenities include a lakeside aquatic and athletic complex, equestrian center, championship golf course, hiking and biking trails, and highly acclaimed schools.

In addition to a full range of health care options, The Village at Gleannloch Farms offers a variety of resort-style amenities including landscaped courtyards, multiple dining venues, and common areas totaling over 148,000 square-feet. The common area spaces include a 100-seat chapel, library and business center, creative arts studio, full-service beauty salon and barbershop, heated outdoor saltwater pool and fitness center.
