Fall Among the Sycamore Leaves

Fall Among the Sycamore Leaves

This is my 4-year old daughter, Eleanor Grace. While visiting my parents last weekend, the kids and I raked up a huge pile of leaves from beneath an enormous sycamore tree that stands in what was once my great-grandmother's backyard. As a child, I also used to love running and jumping into a huge leaf pile, and I knew that the kids would, too. This shot was taken at the end of a series after Nora had come crashing into the pile. It was fairly late in the afternoon, and the sun on the leaves really created a lasting reminder of why we love December in the south. I hope you'll agree.
