Houston Forecast: Mix of sun and clouds; rain on the way
Updated today at 12:54 PM
HOUSTON –- Thursday will be cloudy and cold in the Houston area as more rain approaches before the start of the weekend.
Thursday afternoon we’ll top out in the mid-50s under a mix of sun and clouds.
"Looking to our satellite, we can already see changes on the way," said KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Mario Gomez. "The rain will start up by Friday afternoon, and then all of that rain will be swept out of the Houston area by late Saturday morning or early afternoon."
Friday there’s a 60-percent chance for rain with temperatures in the 40s and 50s.
Saturday the rain chance decreases to 20 percent, and by Sunday it goes away entirely.
Next week will be a little warmer with daytime temperatures in the low-60s and overnight lows in the upper-30s and low-40s.
Looking at Christmas in the extended forecast, there is a potential arctic cold front heading to the Houston area that will drop overnight lows into the teens and highs in the 20s. This means people traveling out of town will want to prepare their homes and protect their pipes ahead of time.
