HOUSTON, TEXAS - Just after 7 a.m. Houston time, Hurricane Matthew made landfall as a Category 4 storm in the western portions of Haiti. However the outer bands continue to impact surrounding areas.
Only time will tell the damage and destruction Hurricane Matthew will do. This is the strongest storm this area has seen in almost a decade. Winds were sustained at almost 145 mph.
After making landfall in Haiti, Matthew is expected next along the eastern end of Cuba. After that, the forecasted track is continuing to change.
Florida through the Carolinas are already bracing for impacts from Matthew if not a direct hit. This forecast will change over the next couple of days and we will keep you posted with the latest here at KHOU.
