Almost everyone got some needed rain on Tuesday in southeast Texas. It was so nice to see all the rain coming off the gulf and dumping a widespread 1/2" to 3" across the area. My neighborhood in the Jersey village area had about 1.5" of rain... it all came down in one afternoon downpour that lasted about a half an hour. Parts of the Baytown area had as much as 3" of rain and some street flooding was reported. We still have a chance for more scattered showers today with some heavy downpours... but dryer air is already entering in from Louisiana and that will continue to zap our rain chances out of the forecast going into Thursday and the weekend. As for the tropics, Tropical storm 'Chris' has formed off Newfoundland in the north Atlantic and will be no threat to anyone. Something MAY form in the Gulf of Mexico over the weekend, but for now we do not see any impact here in Houston. A dome of high pressure will be moving overhead and will block any storm from moving in. It means hot dry summer weather through the weekend and into next week.
