HOUSTON –- Our cool temperatures went away this afternoon under partly cloudy skies, and we're getting closer to a big chance for rain, said KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Mario Gomez.

This afternoon we’ll top out near 80 degrees under partly cloudy skies.

Tuesday will also be warm, but later in the day a cool front will approach the Houston area.

“Weather changes are down the road,” said Gomez. “This is not going to be severe weather. This is going to be very mild-like rain. You’re going to sleep right through it because it’s going to come in around midnight Tuesday going into Wednesday morning.”

There’s a 40-percent chance for rain on Tuesday.

There’s a 30-percent chance for rain on Wednesday with cooler daytime highs of around 67 degrees.

The clouds and a slight chance for rain linger for the rest of the week into the weekend, when our daytime highs will creep back in the low-80s.
