HOUSTON – The skies over Houston will be partly cloudy Tuesday, but that won’t be enough to keep away the heat, said KHOU 11 News Meteorologist David Paul.
“The dog days of summer have a tight grip on us,” said Paul. “There’s a 20-percent chance for a stray shower today on the sea breeze, and that’s about it.”
The forecast high is 97 degrees until Friday, when the rain chances really pick up.
Saturday and Sunday there’s a 30-percent chance of rain with even greater chances heading into next week, said Paul. Temps over the weekend will be in the mid- to low-90s.
Meanwhile in the tropics, there’s not a whole lot going on.
“Gulf of Mexico – nothing brewing,” said Paul. “We’ve been watching the wave that was Tropical Depression 7, but it fizzled out.”
What’s left of T.D. 7 is now heading into Central America.
Another spot developing in the open Atlantic is not expected to be of any concern to the United States, either.
