HOUSTON—The weekend is starting out hot and dry, but there will be a slight chance for rain as the weekend comes to a close, KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Brooks Garner said.

On Friday, highs are expected to top off in the mid-90s. Temperatures will remain the same on Saturday and rain chances will increase as each day continues. There is only a 10-percent chance for rain today, increasing to 30 percent tomorrow and 40 on Sunday. Those chances, however, should not put a damper on football plans.

Tropical storm Ingrid has formed in the southern Gulf of Mexico.

“Still a lot could change with this, it’s an unpredictable system, right now it’s basically stationary, I mean you walk faster than this is moving right now,” he said. “I think there’s potential that Ingrid becomes a hurricane before it is all said and done.”

That would mean heavy rain for south Texas. If it heads west we’ll have less rain chances.
