HOUSTON -- Temperatures were in the mid- to upper-40s across the Houston area early Friday morning. We'll gain about 20 degrees by this afternoon, making for a beautiful start to the weekend.

Houston will set a record if the temperature drops below 47 degrees before sunrise. That record was set back in 1978.

After a cold and windy start, temps will reach 58 degrees by noon and the mid-60s in the late afternoon.

Looking ahead to the weekend, lows Saturday morning will be in the low 40s.

High temps Saturday and Sunday will be in the mid-70s with plenty of sunshine. You’ll wake up to temps in the 50s Sunday morning.

A warming trend begins Monday with temps near 80 degrees. Temperatures should reach the mid-80s by the middle of next week.
