HOUSTON -- If you’re planning a trip outdoors on this July 4th holiday, go ahead, the weather will be working in your favor for the most part, KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Chita Johnson said.

The day will be nice and warm with highs topping off in the mid-90s, but Johnson says there could be a few isolated showers this afternoon. Don’t worry, that 20-percent chance for rain will not be enough to put a damper on any July 4th activities.

“It is a perfect day to get poolside, have that barbecue and if you’re planning to head out to Galveston or Kemah this afternoon, winds are expected to remain calm so bays will be smooth,” Johnson said.

This weekend, however, the rain chances will increase due to some Tropical activity. There will be a 40-percent chance for rain on Saturday, which will increase to 60 percent by Tuesday.
