HOUSTON—We got a little relief last week, but the heat is back and so is the humidity, 11 News Meteorologist Mario Gomez said. Monday is going to be a little icky as the heat mixes with rain showers.
"This has been the third driest August on record, so it will be nice to get some rain to cool things off a bit," said Gomez.
Morning temperatures began at a warm, humid 79 degrees and are expected to max out around 94. There is a 40-percent chance for scattered showers or thunderstorms across the area.
A 30 to 40-percent chance for rain will linger throughout the week, with lows in the high 70s, highs in the mid-90s and heat indexes above 100 degrees.
Hurricane Earl is brewing in the tropics and is expected to increase to a Category 4 by Tuesday, and while the storm will not get a direct hit on land or bring any harm to the southern states, the track is going to create some dangerous surf for the East Coast.
