HOUSTON – Wednesday afternoon will be sunny and pleasant ahead of big changes on the way for Thursday, according to KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Brooks Garner.

We’ll top out in the mid-60s this afternoon before dropping back into the mid-40s overnight into Thursday morning.

There’s a 60-percent chance for rain Thursday as a cold front moves through in the morning. Daytime temperatures Thursday will only top out in the upper-40s. Overnight into Friday morning we'll dip into the upper-20s and low-30s, creating the possibility for wintry weather and icy precipitation.

The National Weather Service says a Winter Storm Watch or Winter Weather Advisory will likely be required for the overnight hours Thursday into Friday.

Drivers will want to use extra caution on bridges and overpasses early Friday.

It will start to dry out after Friday, but Saturday morning will also be very chilly.

Sunday things will start to warm up as clear skies return.
