HOUSTON – The Cinco de Mayo weekend is expected to get off to chilly start with potentially record-breaking temperatures overnight on Friday, KHOU 11 News Chief Meteorologist David Paul said.

Houston already tied a record low Friday morning with 47 degrees. Temperatures could get as low as 43 by Saturday morning, which would break the record of 44 set in 1978.

Friday’s winds should begin to die down this evening as well after the area experienced 40 mph wind gusts this afternoon.

High temperature Saturday and Sunday will be in the mid-70s with plenty of sunshine. You will wake up to temperatures in the 50s Sunday morning.
