HOUSTON – The weather will continue to be hot and humid Friday afternoon as we get closer to Memorial Day and the official start of summer, said KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Brooks Garner.

Temperatures will peak at about 89 before they cool down a little bit this evening with lows in the upper-70s.

There is still a 30 percent chance of rain this evening, but the Houston area is unlikely to see heavy rains. A storm system moving through Southwest Texas near San Antonio should miss the Houston area and stay well north of I-10.

Looking at this holiday weekend, things will be hot, humid, and sticky with afternoon temperatures around 90 degrees for the next several days. The humidity will make it feel warmer than that, however. Overnight lows will be in the mid-70s.

There’s a 20-percent chance for isolated showers through Monday, but our skies will still be mostly sunny.

There’s no significant chance for rain or clouds in the seven-day forecast.
