HOUSTON – Temperatures will continue to increase Monday afternoon as clouds roll into the area, KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Chita Johnson said.

Johnson said that temperatures should hover around the high 70s to low 80s for most of the Houston area this afternoon. These temperatures are 10-12 degrees above normal for this time of year.

However, the warm weather will not last long as a cold front from the north and upper-area low pressure from the west move across Texas late Monday. That will bring rain and possibly severe weather to the Houston area, Johnson said.

Rain and some thunderstorms are expected from 10 p.m. on Monday until 4 a.m. Tuesday with about .5 to 1 inch of rainfall predicted. Some areas north of I-10 may see severe weather including heavy rainfall, hail and strong winds.
