HOUSTON -- We have a hot weekend ahead of us with a slight chance for scattered downpours, according to KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Chita Johnson.
We have a 20-percent chance for rain through the weekend with daytime highs in the mid-90s. It’ll be mostly sunny with a few clouds.
It’s next Wednesday we could be looking at a big change in the forecast.
“You’ll remember the term ‘polar vortex’ from this last fall and winter,” said Johnson. “We’re looking at a temperature drop in the northern U.S. in mid-July, if you can believe it. It’s not set in stone, but next week Houston’s daytime temperatures could drop into the upper-80s and low-90s.”
If the polar vortex holds together, our daytime high on Thursday will only be 89 degrees – but that’s if it makes it far enough south.
There’s a returning chance for rain mid-next week.
