HOUSTON – Time to start layering clothes as “Old Man Winter” will be in town this week as a cold front moves through late Sunday night, KHOU 11 News Mario Gomez said.

Expect to see some thunderstorms move in at about 10 p.m. Sunday, which could develop into severe weather with gusty winds, small hail and heavy rainfall.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 12 a.m. Monday for Austin, Colorado, Grimes, Montgomery, Polk, San Jacinto, Walker, Waller and Washington counties.

The storms should clear the area by Monday morning.

Temperatures will be in the 40s in the morning and will not get warmer than 58 for the rest of the day.

The temperatures could reach freezing levels as the week progresses.
