HOUSTON – We started off warm and muggy again on Thursday ahead of a cool front that is expected to bring showers to the Houston area in the afternoon, says KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Chita Johnson.
Temps in Southeast Texas were in the low-70s early Thursday morning, but in the panhandle where the front already moved through, temps in the 30s were reported.
“A broad area of low pressure north of Texas is pushing a cold front in from the northwest,” said Johnson. “It will drop temperatures, but by the time it makes its way to Houston, it will be more like a cool front.”
There’s a 40-percent chance for rain today – mainly in the afternoon hours. Our northern communities will see the line of rain push through starting around lunchtime. By 4 p.m. Houston’s roads will be getting wet.
Overnight we’ll drop into the low-50s. Friday will be cooler than it has been in recent days with a daytime high of 70 degrees.
This weekend is looking nice with cool overnight temps and pleasant, sunny skies in the daytime.
Early next week a slight chance for rain returns.
