HOUSTON – The Houston metro area could see near-record temperatures Saturday as we get closer to the July 4th holiday next week, KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Mario Gomez said.
Highs for most of the KHOU 11 viewing area will reach triple-digits with temperatures peaking at 102 degrees downtown. The record high for this day is 103.
Although there no chance for rain on Saturday, we may see some on Sunday after a cold front moves through the area. There is a 20 percent chance of rain on Sunday with highs expected to reach 96, a little more tolerable than the 100-degree-plus temps from Friday and Saturday.
Next week the daytime temperatures drop even more, into the lower-90s. More rain comes into the forecast on Wednesday and Thursday, but our real chance for rain comes Friday.
