HOUSTON – We’re one day closer to the weekend, and we’re one day closer to hitting triple digits in the Houston area.

Expect to see muggy overnight weather with lows in the upper-70 Thursday evening and Friday morning.

Friday we will top out around 100 degrees, but will feel even warmer with all of the humidity.

It stays hot this weekend, but there’s a slight chance for scattered showers on Saturday and Sunday.

"We are watching just showers north of the Houston metro area, and we think they'll come to roost around Houston this weekend," said Gomez.

Next week things stay dry and on the hot side.

Looking to the Atlantic, Tropical Storm Dorian continues to move west-north-west. It’s too soon to tell if the tropical system will have any effect on the U.S., but it's something to keep an eye on heading into next week.
