Houston Forecast: Front could bring drought relief

HOUSTON – The Houston area could see some relief from the ongoing drought this week, according to KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Mario Gomez.

We are tracking storms over the next few days that could bring 1 to 2 inches of rainfall to the area.

The Houston area could see some storms form overnight but the best chance for rain will come early Monday afternoon. There is a 40 percent chance for rain to start the work week.

Temperatures will start out in the mid-70s Monday morning before peaking at about 87.

Expect to see more rain as a frontal boundary moves through in the area in the early morning hours on Tuesday. The chance for rain increases to about 60 percent with highs around 80 degrees.

The front will leaves us with highs in the low-80s and lows in the mid-50s.
