HOUSTON – Summer officially starts on Friday, and you will need to bring your umbrella to block the shade and possible afternoon scattered showers.

Friday temps will top out at 96 degrees with a 20-percent chance for rain in the afternoon.

“It’s getting to that time where we are hoping for a rain shower to cool us off,” said KHOU 11 News Chief Meteorologist David Paul.

Looking at the seven-day forecast, the next several days look about the same: afternoon temperatures in the mid-90s with a chance for isolated showers.

Enjoy the cool-down if you get any of the rain
