HOUSTON – Scattered storms brought heavy downpours to the Houston area early Wednesday afternoon, and even more rain is expected heading into Halloween, according to KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Brooks Garner.

There is a 60 percent chance for rain Wednesday and a 100% chance on Thursday.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect in the Houston area until Thursday.

There will be periodic downpours Wednesday evening with temps in the mid-70s.

"On Thursday an upper-level low will dive southward toward Texas and will mix with the tropical system already over us," said Garner. "Rain chances will decrease overnight into Halloween morning, but do look for showers to return around 7 a.m."

The heaviest rain on Halloween is expected to be from the morning into the early afternoon, but localized street flooding is possible throughout the day. Your kid's trick-or-treating plans will depend on how quickly the rain moves off the coast Thursday night.

Friday the skies will clear out, leaving us with nice daytime temps in the mid-70s for the weekend. Starting Friday into Saturday, our overnight lows will be in the low-50s.
