HOUSTON – Get ready to pull that coat out of the closet as a cold front is sure to bring a halt to the summer-like weather this weekend , KHOU 11 News Chief Meteorologist David Paul said.
Saturday will started calm with mostly cloudy skies, but by the afternoon, parts of the Houston area could see some severe weather in the form of hail and strong winds just ahead of a cold front sweeping across the state.
The severe weather is expected to peak between noon and 3 p.m. with a 40 percent chance of rain before it clears out towards the east.
Highs for Saturday will be in the mid-80s, but that won’t last for long with highs dropping down into the mid-60s for Sunday, an average 10 degrees below the normal for this time of the year.
By Monday morning, some of the northern counties could experience lows near freezing levels.
