HOUSTON – Monday is dry and cool, but big changes are expected Tuesday when heavy rain moves in, KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Chita Johnson said.

“We’ll see 60s for the afternoon highs, under partly cloudy skies,” she said. “We may see more clouds move in. We are starting to see low clouds develop.”

Moisture from the Gulf moves in late Monday and that will stir up a storm system that will bring heavy rain Tuesday and Wednesday.

The storms could include severe weather in the form of flash floods, gusty winds and tornadoes. Street flooding is possible in some areas Wednesday that could see up to four inches of rain.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect beginning Tuesday at 12 p.m. until 12 a.m. Thursday morning for Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Harris, Jackson, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Polk, San Jacinto, Walker, Waller, Washington and Wharton counties.
