HOUSTON – There is a slight chance for rain as the Mardi Gras celebration gets under way this weekend, according to KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Mario Gomez.
Saturday will be clear with early-morning temps in the 50s and an afternoon high of 72 degrees. Expect to see more sun Saturday afternoon before the cloud start to roll back in later in the evening.
However, a slight chance for rain returns overnight into Sunday morning.
There is an outside chance for a shower and maybe even a thunderstorm as a frontal boundary moves in from the south Saturday evening into Sunday morning. It is a weak front, but that’s the cause for our shower potential over the weekend.
There’s a 30-percent chance for rain Sunday and Monday with an increasing chance on Tuesday and Wednesday.
If you plan on heading out to Galveston Island for the celebration, make sure to take a jacket as temps will be much cooler in the evenings near the coast.
Early next week we’ll get near 80 degrees before a front moves through, dropping our temps once again for Wednesday and Thursday.
