HOUSTON – A heat advisory for the Houston area is in effect until 7 p.m. on Monday, said KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Brooks Garner.

The advisory affects portions of Brazoria, Chambers, Galveston, Harris, Jackson, Liberty and Matagorda counties as the work week got off to a hot start on Monday.

Temperatures Monday evening will still be in the mid-80s and will only get down to the upper-70s overnight.

Don’t expect to see any relief from the heat on Tuesday as temperatures are likely to hit triple digits.

This weekend a chance for rain returns and the temperatures drop about five degrees.
