HOUSTON – Use caution when navigating around town Monday because it is going to be dangerously hot outside, KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Chita Johnson said.
"If you plan to spend some time outdoors, take plenty of breaks and you may want to spend some time in the shade if you can," Johnson said. "Stay hydrated and, if you can, limit the amount of caffeine that you drink, that's always helpful."
You should also wear loose-fitting, light-colored clothing while working outside.
The True View Forecast shows Monday started out with lows already in the upper-70s and highs are expected to be at a muggy 90 degrees by lunchtime.
Highs will soar to 97 degrees later in the day, but with the humidity, the heat index will exceed 100 degrees.
The extended forecast shows there is a slight – only 10 percent -- chance for rain Tuesday, which will increase to 20 percent on Wednesday, but only areas north of I-10 have the best chance for seeing one of those scattered showers.
Otherwise, the hot, muggy summer weather continues through the weekend.
